It’s quite strange when you think about it, wouldn’t you agree? We refer of course to the relative lack of motorbike based racing games available these days. There are exceptions of course, and titles which allow for both four and two wheeled excursions around the track, but by and large the motorbike facets of these games tend to be seen as more of a novelty than anything else. Meaning that there’s plenty of room for Moto GP 09/10 in the market…
For those of you looking for a realistic driving experience, Moto GP 09/10 will leave you disappointed. To say that the mechanics are slightly arcade based is one hell of an understatement. Even at the toughest difficulty setting, on the fastest bikes, it’s almost more of a challenge to crash than it is to grab yourself a podium finish – something which will no doubt prove unacceptable for motorsport enthusiasts.
For the rest of you however, there’s a rather fun game to be had here, once you can look past the awful commentary (it began to grate for us after our first lap, truly painful stuff). The expected game modes are all present and accounted for, with solid online functionality and a healthy dose of local multiplayer options. Worth a look if you’re sick of the usual serious racers.
